When did you last look at your wife's ears?

Guy's listen up, here is a very good piece of advice, before you buy your wife, girlfriend, mum or any other female of the species any jewellery, you tend to try and find out her favourite colour. Maybe her favourite stone, does she prefer gold or silver. Does she prefer long or short necklaces, big and chunky or small and petite? Whatever her choice can I suggest you find out one crucial piece of information. Are her ears pierced or not? The reason I ask is because I had a really lovely gentleman come to my stall on Saturday, he explained that his wife had lost her earring and he wanted to buy her a replacement pair. Only stipulation was they had to be brown. Well I picked out 2 or 3 pairs for him and he picked out the pair that he liked. I asked the question, she does have pierced ears doesn't she. Panic spread across his face, he didn't know. I started to show him some clip on earrings and he decided to take a pair of these. Lovely. Job done. Within about 5 minutes a woman came back to the stall and guess what she had pierced ears. Yes it was the wife, coming back to swap the earrings. All's well that ends well and she actually did like the original pair of pierced earrings that he had picked, which of course I swapped over for her. So the moral of the story gents, do a bit of detective work and have a good look at her ears before you go shopping, just remember to do it sneakily if the earrings are a surprise. 

Through the Looking Glass (Part 2)

Carrying on from yesterday's make I decided to make a bracelet to match the necklace. Following on with the same prinicipal, the only element not included was the heart shaped pendant. The fastener is magnetic, which I find makes it easier to get on. To be honest I m finding that Sunday's make has to be simple and not too time consumming. Sunday is catch up day, housework, shopping and trying to spend time with the kids. Then in the evening, updating the blog, website and trying to have a catch up session with my Mum and Sister in Aberdeen. Before I know it it is bedtime again. So the fact that I have already made up the design and all I am doing is the actual making is good for me. Here is Through the Looking Glass bracelet.

    

Through the Looking Glass

Last Saturday, while running the stall one lady explained that she was looking for a simple necklace with pendant to wear with an outfit for a night out. This has been playing on my mind all week and although I had no way of knowing for certain if she would turn up I decided to have a go at trying to produce something she might like. All the clues that she gave me were, not too big a pendant, not too bright colours and classy but simple. So on Friday night I sat down and came up with this. Very pale pink beads, almost see through combined with silver effect ribbed beads and then finished off with a diamante heart pendant. Unfortunately the lady did not return to the stall this Saturday, so I have no idea if it hits the mark but I like it. I have called it Through the Looking Glass necklace.

Chinese anyone?

No, I am not talking takeaway, although I am very partial to one. I made this bracelet on Thursday out of green beads with Chinese symbols printed on them. Alternated with blue plastic but metal effect beads and then Chinese coins to finish off the theme, all threaded onto elastic, so should fit any size wrist. I have called it China here we come.

Can you hear me?

Wednesday's make inspiration came to me when my daughter and I went to the local bead shop, she had asked me to make her a bookmark and wanted to pick out her own beads. Obviously we couldn't just buy the parts for making the bookmark, we had to look around the store as well. That is when I spotted the phone charm attachments and I knew I just had to have them. When we got home I had a cup of tea and a think. Then I remembered that I had lots of tiny coloured bells. Job done, I think that the teenagers will like these and hopefully they will be a big seller of the stall. Let me know which colour you prefer. They are called coloured bell phone charms.

   

Simple Earrings

The make for Tuesday is plain and simple. I did not have much time, between being a taxi driver for the kids, cleaner, employee, updating websites, networking (general chatting) on the craft forum and all the other lovely things that general life throws at you, by the time I sat down to make something it was quite late. I was tired and to be honest didn't have any inspiration for making a new item from scratch, planning etc. Then I spied the last few Rose Quartz and Antique Silver beads left over from Powder Puff (see earlier posts). Just the thing thinks I, some matching earrings. So here they are. Ten minutes of so later, I was able to sit in front of the tv, with a lovely cup of tea and veg for about 1/2 an hour - bliss.

Fishy Fishy

On Saturday while trying to sell all my items at the Market I had a young lady come along and start looking at all the jewellery. Eventually she asks me where is the man who is normally here. I reply I don't know, maybe he is on another stall. She explains that she likes to buy and that he often keeps back items for her, or hides them for her to find (alarms bells start ringing here). Anyway after lots of conversation along this vein she finally picks up a bracelet I have with lots of fish on it. What kind of fish are these she asks. I don't know, just general says I. Where are their teeth, if I can see their teeth then I will now what type of fish they are, dolphins, whales etc. I know these are not fish they are mammals. Anyway to cut a long story short after much debate it turns out that she really likes fish. I can see this is a conversation that will run and run over the next few weeks. If anyone knows where I can buy any authentic looking fish for me to make into an item of jewellery please let me know and you will make her day. This is the bracelet she was looking at.
